This is Part 3 of the “100 Plus Size Clothing Stores” series. Check out Part 1- For Budget Babes, and Part 2- Sizes 28+!

At the end of the series I’ll post a comprehensive list of all the stores I’ve mentioned (alphabetical of course).

I love this category!!!! Independent designers are what drive trends, and inspire fashion. They’re the heart of it all. So of course we have to do a special post just for them!!!!

So how does one decide if a designer is “indie”?? Well, I don’t really know. I didn’t have a specific criteria for people to meet to be indie enough. There are a LOT of independent designers. This list definitely is not complete, and I’m sure there are a lot more great designers out there. I DID try to keep the designers on the list on trend and fashionable with clothing aimed at people ages 18-35. The list also only includes fashions that are fairly affordable. I will have a post later in the series for more fancy/high-end clothing and will include a few independent designers there. I think each designer on the list has something interesting and fresh to add to the mix!

So here’s #28-45 on our list of 100 Plus Size Places to Shop!!!

Living Doll La – This is my obsession. Truly. If I could choose one place to get all my clothing, this would be it. I love them. LOVE THEM! Their clothes go up to size 3X and are generously sized (everything fits me with a bit of room to spare and I’m a 24/26). They carry the cutest hippy-chic clothes, and recently came out with a plus size work-out line that is AMAZING, you’ll look awesome in their leggings whether you’re working out or not! Almost everything is under $50.

Kristin Miles – Cute on trend clothes, well fit to plus size women. Sizes go up to a 3x,  though recently I’ve purchased from this line and had a problem with the 3x fitting over my chest (which usually isn’t a problem) so make sure you check the size chart!!! prices under $100.

Hi, I know this is probably a little spammy, I have just been doing research on indie designers and found this post. I am planning on doing a few plus size runway shows in 2016, so I guess I was just checking out the competition.

Anyway just based on your obviously love of brights and prints, I think you would appreciate the initial line that I put on kickstarter. Personally, I LOVE prints and wear them almost exclusively, and I had a really hard time finding more modern styles that I liked. So I made my own. The most popular is a red geometric print on a fit & flare dress. If you have a minute, take a look, and I would love any feedback you want to give me on the line.

I was also super sad about DD and Candy Strike closing, they were both inspirations to me. I hope that the designers will come back at some point, I know the owner of DD wanted to focus on her family and CS was going back to school to become a teacher, but they are both such good designers/curators, I feel like there is a real hole in the market now.

Hi Andrea!!! I just took a look at your video and the product looks awesome! I love when people design with fat bodies in mind! If you have a facebook page or anything that you’d like me to spread the word about your kickstarter on, please let me know! Best of luck in all your ventures!!!! <3

Thank you so much! I am glad you liked it. When I studied apparel production I only focused on fitting for plus size bodies because no one is doing it! And it was something that wasn’t encouraged so I always had to figure things out for myself – my patternmaking instruction book didn’t even deal with sizing above a 14. So I always knew that plus size was where I wanted to focus.
My FB page is here: and yes I would love if you promoted it. You’re amazing! Thanks again. 🙂

OMG I love you girl. I just checked out some of these indie designers and ordered a cute little sumthin from Zeli For She. I would not have known about ZFS or most of the other indie designers had it not been for your blog. Forever your follower 🙂
